Note: John Henry Corn, 72, of 45 HiAlta Ave., died Wed. Morning at his home
after a long illness. He was a native of Hendersonville, had resided in
Buncombe County for 27 years, a retired employee of the Asheville School
for Boys with 13 years of service and a veteran of WWII, having served in
the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nannie Smith Corn, four daughters, Mrs.
Doris Lance of Mills River, Mrs. Edelee West and Mrs. Virginia Steadman,
both of Hendersonville; a brother, Hilliard Collins of Oteen; three
sisters, Mrs Della Burrell, Mrs Dora Pruitt and Mrs. Hazel Pruitt, all of
Hendersonville; and several grandchildren. Penland and Sons Funeral Home
is in charge."
"Mollie W. corn, 78, of 2334 Greater Druid Hills Blvd., died Tuesday at
her residence. A native of Transylvania Co., she had spent most of her
life in Henderson County and was the wife of John H. Corn, Sr. who died
in 1971. She was a member of Shaws Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Ettie Lee West and Becky Steadman of
Hendersonville and Mary Hyatt of Charlotte; a son Pete Corn of Etowah; a
brother and two half sisters, 15 grandchildren and a number of great
grand-children.
Services will be held at 11 am Thursday in Shepherd's Church Street
Chapel. The Revs. T.G. Proctor and Ray Linville will officiate."

a position with the Artistic Beauty Salon in Miami Beach, Fla. Miss Corne
was an honor graduate of the La Dove Beauty School in Greenville, SC,

The death of Mary E. Odum Corn was listed as below and appeared in the
November 27, 1922 issued of the local paper:
Mrs. George W. Corn died last Thursday morning at her home on the Old
Asheville Road in this city at the age of 63. Her husband survives her,
also a son Few, one daughter Mrs. Will J. Turner, and one sister Mrs.
Pink Fowler and brother Bill.
September 13, 1933- George Washington Corn, 80, retired farmer, died
yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter Mrs. W.J.
Turner on the Old Asheville Road, after an illness of several months.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Grove
Street Gospel Church and burial will follow in the Rugby Cemetery. Mr.
Corn was a native of Henderson Co. and had spent most of his li8fe here.
He is survived by a son Few Corn and a daughter Mrs. Turner, with whom he
made his home.

Note: Oct 19 1935- Saturday- Mrs Laura Corn residing on Lower main Street,
passed away at her home this morning after a illness extending over a
period of about a year. Mrs. Corn was 63 yrs of age. she was a daughter
of Thomas and Nancy Hollingsworth, dec., her father being a Confederate
soldier well known in this county. Mrs. Corn's husband, known in the town
and county as "Bud" died about 30 years ago. She is survived by a son
W.D. Corn and a daughter, Mrs Cordie Bond, residing with their mother:
and by two grandchildren Miss Laura Bond and Mr. Mack Bond. One sister,
Mrs. Alta Barnett of Brevard.
She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church of Hendersonville.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday from the Rock Stone
Church of the Gospel Tabernacle, Rev. W.A. Morriss will officiate.
Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
